Please note: The nursery at Thornton Dale Primary School will be closing on Friday 19th July 2019 because in the classrooms of Thornton Dale Primary School there will be extracurricular activities with writers from the 123helpme site who will share all the life hacks and tips for solving written tasks.

Donaldson Nursery

at  Thornton Dale Primary School

In our 26 place nursery we provide learning in a high quality environment both indoors and outdoors for children aged 2 - 4.
We offer a happy, supportive learning environment implementing the
Early Years Framework with a focus on communication, social interaction and physical development where your child is valued as an individual.

The Transition

Transition into main school is seamless as the children are included in many of the activities that go on in school on a daily basis.
At times the nursery class and the reception class work together on a particular theme.
In the summer term frequent visits are built in for our September starters (and parents) to the reception class to familiarise them with their surroundings.

Our Provision

Donaldson Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and the learning is child led.
The children have access to high quality indoor and outdoor provision with space to explore and investigate their surroundings.
We encourage parents to be involved in their child’s learning and development.

Eat Healthy...

A healthy snack and drink (milk or water) is provided during each session and lunch can be ordered from the school kitchen or a packed lunch can be sent with the child for full day sessions.
Children are encouraged to bring water bottles.

Providing high quality professional care for children within the local area.

Work in partnership with parents and school to help children to learn and develop.

A central focus for families who need their children to adapt to school life.

Enable your child to be in an environment that is safe, happy, and nurturing.

Meet the Donaldson Staff

Donaldson Nursery is led by a qualified teacher and the Early Years Leader oversees the provision.
Every child is allocated a Key Person who will meet with you each term to discuss your child’s progress.
We pride ourselves on communication with parents and carers, getting to know both you and your child really well.
Our ratios follow statutory guidelines and are 1:4 for 2 year olds and 1:13 for 3 year olds.
